In 2024–2025 academic year, the “Practical Foreign Languages” department employs 1 PhD, 1 candidate of sciences, 18 senior lecturers, and 5 lecturers, of them 9 masters. The lecturers of the “Practical Foreign Languages” department teach “Foreign language - 1,2” disciplines at Pre-intermediate level for students of non-linguistic specialties, and “Foreign language (professional)” for master degree students.

The department lecturers take an active part in international and republican scientific and methodological conferences and publish articles in foreign publications. Thus, in 2024 in “Journal of Psycholinguistic Research” journal, included in the Scopus (Q1) and WebofScience databases, Turguntayeva G.A., PhD, has published a scientific article on the topic “Linguacultural and cognitive peculiarities of linguistic universals”; Baiteliyeva M.A., senior lecturer, has published a scientific article on the topic “Investigation of the Effect of a Natural Extract From Oak Bark on the Properties of the Leather” in the “Fibres and Textiles in Eastern Europe” journal, included in the Scopus (Q3) and WebofScience databases. In 2024, Rakhimova Yu.S., senior lecturer, has published a scientific article on the topic “Extracurricular tandem as a powerful tool for enhancing intercultural communicative competence” in the “Forum for linguistic Studies” journal.   in 2025 Ushakbayeva K.R., department’s senior lecturer, has published an article on the topic “Examination of the Scientific and Methodological Foundations of the Formation of Network Communication Culture and Digital Etiquette of Faculty Members at the University” in “International Journal of Evaluation and Research in Education” (IJERE) journal.

The department lecturers publish their articles in publications, recommended by the Committee for quality assurance in science and higher education, Ministry of science and higher education, the Republic of Kazakhstan. In particular, in 2023 an article of Berdenova S.L., senior lecturer, titled “First-year students’ problems affecting adaptation to a public university in Kazakhstan” was published in the Bulletin of Gumilyov L.N. ENU, “Pedagogy. Psychology. Sociology” series (journals). In 2024, Senior Lecturer K. R. Ushakbayeva published the article “An Innovative Approach to the Development of Students’ Information Competence in the Media Education Process” in the Multidisciplinary Academic Journal of Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University. An article by Novozhilova M.V., department’s acting associate professor, candidate of pedagogical sciences, Gribeniuk M.A., senior lecturer, and Baiteliyeva M.A., titled “Integrating “Scaffolding” Techniques Into the Foreign Language Learning Process to Foster Students’ Language Proficiency” was published in the “News. Series: Philological Sciences” journal, Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages.

The department lecturers also regularly participate in competitions for grant funding of scientific projects. In 2023, Gribeniuk M.A., senior lecturer, took part in the international project ERASMUS+ “Reinforcing capacities of HEIs for leather and leather products in Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan” (REILEAP), and Ibragimov M.F., lecturer - in the international project “BEACON: Using biodiversity and energy justice to resolve conflicts between Sustainable Development goals”.

In addition, seminars are regularly organized by the department lecturers. In 2024, a seminar was held on the topic “Modern methods of foreign language teaching in inclusive education”. Within the framework of the seminar, a training was held during which the lecturers have seen inclusive education methods demonstrated in practice. The specialist from Inclusive Education Center made a presentation on methods of teaching students with special educational needs. In 2025, Altynbekova D.A., Karimova A.Sh., Nauryzbayeva A.M., and Saduakhasova M.B., department’s senior lecturers held for department lecturers a scientific and methodological seminar on the topic “MOOC - comprehensive programme for distant learning”. During the seminar the department lecturers familiarized with the effectiveness of MOOC platform and ways to use it, with methods of recording quality video lectures and developing necessary study materials, as well as discussed the main approaches to create MOOC.

“Practical Foreign Languages” department lecturers take an active part in the “The best multimedia product of university” competition, organized by Taraz M.Kh. Dulaty University. In 2023, in the “The best multimedia product of university - 2023” competition in “the best MOOC” category, senior lecturers Nauryzbayeva A.M., Altynbekova D.A., and Karimova A.Sh., won the second place.

The department lecturers also actively participate in sports competitions, organized by university to promote healthy lifestyle. Zaurbek A.B., one of the department lecturers, took part in sports relay race between university employees and lecturers, held on the Day of Kazakhstan trade unions and won the first place. Besides that, in 2026, Baiteliyeva M.A. and Mazova A.A., lecturers, took part in the university sports festival (Spartakiad) and won the third place in darts. In addition, Kosalieva K. B., a faculty member of the department, won second place in chess.

Along with social work, the department lecturers maintain close contact with students. In 2025, on the initiative of student scientific educational circle “Polyglot”, “Practical Foreign Languages” department, a conference was organized on the topic "Digital Literacy and Artificial Intelligence: Interactive Platforms and Resources in Foreign Language Learning". Schoolchildren and college students from Taraz and the Zhambyl region participated in the conference. The best speakers were awarded first-, second-, and third-place diplomas, special nominations, and letters of appreciation.

“Practical Foreign Languages” department lecturers ​​supervise students' research projects. In 2025, following the results of the second stage of the 27th student scientific and practical conference “Student Science - the World of Research” held at Taraz University named after M.Kh. Dulaty, Zhumabek Anel, a first-year student of the educational program 6B05111 “Medical and Biological Science” under the supervision of Nauryzbayeva A.M., senior lecturer, was awarded a third-place diploma. On February 15, 2025, Tileukulov Z.K., a first-year student of the educational program 6B04214 "Jurisprudence" took part in the online English Olympiad and received a first-place diploma; his supervisor was Saduakhasova M.B.
